Squish tip of the week: Ensure steps in secondary applications are also recorded

Does your primary AUT launch other applications you would like to include in your testing?

When one application launches another, often a sub-process is triggered. Including the triggered sub-process, or application, in your recording requires a simple setting change as well as a basic understanding of Application Context.

Within the Application Under Test section of your Test Suite Settings, select Hook into sub-process launched by the application. That’s it! Your scripts will now record not only actions against your primary AUT, but also any sub-processes launched by that AUT.

When switching between applications, it’s also important to understand what Squish refers to as Application Context. Application Context essentially tells Squish on which application to perform the given action(s).
