Hamburg, Germany – 2006-02-01 froglogic GmbH today pre-announced Squish/Web. Squish/Web will become a new edition of Squish allowing to create and run tests for interactive Web applications using the Squish test tool.
Squish started out as a professional automated GUI test tool for applications based on Trolltech’s Qt GUI toolkit. Later Squish gained support for testing XView based applications and just recently froglogic announced the availability of Squish/Tk, a Squish edition to test Tcl/Tk applications.
Currently froglogic’s engineers are working on Squish support for testing Web applications. Following froglogic’s cross-platform philosophy, Squish/Web will support testing of HTML-based applications in different browsers such as Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla/Firefox, Apple’s Safari and KDE’s Konqueror.
“With Squish’s growing popularity, demand for testing different types of applications using Squish is growing too. Many customers want to use the same test tool for all variations of their applications. Therefore we decided to extend Squish to one of today’s most popular application platforms: the Web”, said Rainer Schmid, froglogic’s Mac OS X Platform Chief.
Similar to existing Squish editions, tests for Web applications can be recorded or written manually. Inserting verification and synchronization points also works as easy as in all other Squish editions.
“Test engineers which have to deal with Web applications can now take advantage of Squish’s powerful testing framework which allows to create robust and portable tests. Without modifications, test scripts created for one browser can be executed in other browsers even running on different platforms. This not only allows to test the correctness of the Web application but also ensures their portability.”, explained Frerich Raabe, Software Architect at froglogic.
Squish/Web is already being used by a pilot customer who has been testing other variations of their application using different Squish editions for a while. Now they also use Squish to test the Web version of their application.
Squish/Web will be publically released as a new edition of Squish 3.0 in Q2 2006. If you are interested in Squish/Web and would like to try it out now, please contact us at at firstname.lastname@example.org.
